Weekend in Pix

This weekend was pretty busy. I met up with my friend for beers at the TN Brewery on it's last Friday in existence. I got some decent running and pool time in and wrapped it up with some family time with a dinner at my sisters house. FYI I woke up sore on Monday morning from all of my "play time" with the kiddo. When I play, I'm 100%.

It was too pretty not to take a picture.

French Bread Pizzas. Yummy. Yes I ate all of this. I was planning on a long run.

Delayed AM run = AM pool time.
It might be the last case of Cold Snap in the country and now it's mine.

Early morning runs, mean early morning wake ups. Someone did not want to get up.

BBQ Fest.

There's nothing like the smell of grills in the morning, said only by Memphians headed to work downtown during MIM BBQ Weekend. I will be heading down to BBQ Fest tonight to get wild and crazy with friends and family. Unfortunately, thanks to the last minute notification from the Army, Jason had to leave early for drill and won't be able to join me. It's cool though. His loss.

This picture was from earlier in the week when the tents were starting to go up. It's crazy they have 3-story temporary tents down there, all with their own themes and ingenious team names, bumping music, handing out boos, and cooking BBQ. Got to love it.

Stone Soup Cafe.

Today's lunch date at Stone Soup Cafe, was superb. I found out about this little gem here. Located in an old house in Midtown Memphis, this sweet lunch/breakfast spot serves up some hearty soups and "sammies"as well as other yummy options. I had the Chicken Breast with Spinach and Feta Sammie and Jason had the Bacon, Lettuce and Grilled Green Tomato Sammie. While Jason had the standard side of potato chips, I opted for the grilled zucchini topped with parmesan cheese, which was definitely worth the $1 upgrade. I think next time we'll mix it up and try the soup.

Bikes & Fries.

This week Downtown Memphis is participating in Bike to Work Day on May 20th. I, along with my co-workers will be making the trek into work tomorrow via bicyle. I've been lookng forward to this for the past couple of weeks - especially when gas prices were nearing $4 - because if I can save some bucks by biking to work once a week then it's well worth a shot. I'll let you know how it goes.

On a side note, last night I had dinner at Chick-fil-a with Christin and she tried their new sweet potato fries and let me sample some as well. Now let me preface this with saying, I've never in my life tried sweet potato fries. I'm not a huge fan of sweet potatos to begin with but I have always wanted to experiment with making some sweet potato fries - I mean what doesn't taste better fried? Chick-fil-a sweet potato fries = yummieness. In general, Chick-fil-a = yummieness.

Hm...maybe tomorrow morning we could bike by the Chick-fil-a in Midtown and pick up a chicken biscuit...

Ok, now I'm hungry.

Temptation.

After three successful passes, I have yet to indulge in a donut this morning. But they are calling me by name....I just need to hold out one more hour...
