10.01mi, 1:33:56, 9:23ppm
Not the best of runs for me, but I was very proud that I completed a goal. For some reason, I really wanted to run 10mi this weekend. Unfortunately, we had limited time on the trails, so I knew I'd have to get up and run on Sunday. I set out, this time with the iPhone/podcasts to help me pass the time. Its like I knew it wasn't going to be the best of runs before I even started. I stopped halfway to get some water at CVS. I noticed that my tank was completely soaked; it was just terribly humid. I had many opportunities to cut the run short, including when I got back to the complex at 9.10mi....Eff it, I might as well finish it out and I did. I did have to stop two or three times to catch my breath and wipe my sweat, but I made it. I'm just going to bank on all this heat training to really pay off in the fall...

5.31.14 Run Report
5:15mi, 56:31mm:ss, 10:58ppm
A lovely, but short trail run with Olivia. It was quite humid and later in the day, so a little warmer than we're used to, but the woods always helps to cool things down. It was muddy, not fun mud, but mud that sticks and clops to your shoes causing potentially hazardous conditions. It was still a good time though. We ran across a new memorial that was posted on the blue trail. Quite sad actually. We stopped to pay our respects and make some cool twig crosses to place next to the memorial. We later discovered that this gentleman had had a heart attack while riding the trails; so, so sad, but at least he was doing what he loved! If I ever have a fatal heart attack, I would want it to be in the woods. It is a magical place.

5.30.14 Run Report
6.29mi, 55:22mm:ss, 8:48ppm
Funny story really. I decided last night that I would try and wake up earlier in order to get to work at decent time; adjusting to Camp Andy, has taken a little longer than expected...So, all that to say, I set my alarm for 5:45a. I got up fed the pup, got out the door and started the run before 6:15a. Nice, right. I set out without a plan, but decided along the way to run to my sister's house and back; hoping it would give me between 5 and 6 miles. It was spitting rain, but not enough to really enjoy, but enough to realize that we were sitting at 100% humidity. Blah. I pass my sister's house, make the turn to circle back and I come across this man in his nice Audi S7 leaving his driveway. I notice his coat on the seat and realize he's a doctor. Then something clicked. I noticed all the traffic and these landscapers. I stop, switch my watch over to time....it's ten til 8a. Shit. I'm halfway through my run and now I'm an hour behind. Perfect. I get home at 8:15. There's really no way of salvaging any attempt to being in the office early, or on time at this point, but I was only 30 minutes later than normal, so there's a win.
I guess I just glazed over that 7 this morning assuming it was a 6. Anyway, the run was ok. I felt slow and sluggish, but focused on my turn over which helped me keep the pace fast. There was a lot of sweat involved today.

Only in Memphis can it be partly cloudy with 100% humidity. Where's the rain people?!
Side Note: I learned something today from HowStuffWorks.com while Googling 100% humidity,"If the air is at 100-percent relative humidity, sweat will not evaporate into the air. As a result, we feel much hotter than the actual temperature when the
relative humidity is high". This explains a lot.
